Good morning, TERA Fans! Today I have a little treat for you, courtesy of TERA Fans member bygeorge!

Bygeorge has been working on a few different translations about TeraFans Wiki - VelikaVelika , the TeraFans Wiki - HumanHuman city, and these have culminated in a small compendium of information about the city which I'm happy to share with you today!

While many of you already know a lot about Velika, this little guide will prove very useful for new comers to TERA or people who just haven't gotten to experience this massive and intricate city in-game yet :]

Remember that all of the information in this article is translated from a few Korean sources, which you can find links to at the end of the article. Enjoy!

The City of Velika

Posted Image
Lore
The great Human city of Velika is the jewel of Southern Arun. Built by Humans in collaboration with the goddess Velik, the city is the capital of the Federation and the nexus of trade and diplomacy, as well as being the center of the struggle for Southern Arun. The landscape is dominated by the Great Machine, which not only powers the city but helps protect it.

Posted Image
Posted Image

Velika is the first major city which players will encounter in Tera. After your first Pegasus ride from the Island of Dawn, this is the city you will be dropped off at. From here, there are numerous NPCs which you can talk to to accomplish a variety of tasks.

Posted Image
Map of Velika

Pegasus Platform

Posted Image

This is the place you will start at when you fly into the city, and also gives you access to other cities and villages.

Trade Broker

Posted Image

The trade broker allows you to buy and sell items to other players. There is the ability to search by name and category, to help you find the item you are looking for quicker. There is also the ability to bargain with a seller if they are online. This lets you haggle over the price of an item you want to buy.

Posted Image
Bargaining pop-up box.

When selling items, there is a registration fee equal to 5% of the item's sell price. This is paid when you place the item up for sale, and is not refundable.

Warehouse

Posted Image
There are 3 warehouses located in Velika.

The warehouse allows you to story your items in 4 tabs, each one composed of a 7x9 grid. This allows for 252 items to be stored in the warehouse, along with as much gold as you want. From here you can also send mail, which can be attached with items or money.

Posted Image

Guild Offices

Posted Image

This is where the creation and management of guilds takes place.

In order to create a guild you need to be level 8 or higher, pay 3000 gold, and be in a party with at least one other member who is willing to join. Guild names have to be between 3 and 15 character long (this is for korean, might be different in english).

In CBT3, there were two levels to guilds. In order to level up your guild, you needed to acquire Valkyon decorations and medals. While in a lvl 2 guild, you gain access to the Decorations Shop.

Decorations Shop

Posted Image

The decorations shop gives you the ability to buy special potions only available to member of lvl 2 guilds or higher. These potions grant a variety of 30 minute buffs.

  • Rapid Growth Potion - Increases experience received from hunting by 5%.
  • HP Recovery Reagent - You recover 1% of your max HP every 5 seconds and refills HP to full when used.
  • MP Recovery Reagent - Recover 5 MP every 5 seconds and refills MP to full when used.
  • Damage Enhancing Reagent - Increases attack stats by 5.
  • Defense Enhancing Reagent - Increases defensive stats by 13.

Homunculus NPCs

Posted Image
Homunculus Egg Incubator

There are several NPCs associated with the Homunculus in Velika.
The homunculus president is able to tell you information about homunculi. There are NPCs who sell common homunculus eggs and ones who sell the orbs which you can attach to them. There is also the egg incubator, which allows you to hatch your eggs.

Skill Trainers

There are two sets of NPCs who will sell you your class skills.

Posted Image
Combat trainers who sell the skills for the melee classes and for archers.

Posted Image
And magic trainers who sell skills for Sorcerers, Mystics, and Priests. Here there is also a historian, teacher, and researcher.

Headquarters

Posted Image
The place I marked as "Field Mission Officers" on the first map.

There are a few different NPCs stationed at the headquarters in Velika including the commander of the Valkyon Alliance forces.

Posted Image

Assembly Hall Clerks let you accept repeatable quests which are not connected with any other NPCs or storyline.
Field Officers allow you to join battlegrounds.

Crafting Workshop

see Crafting Translation

Other Shops

Posted Image

There are several other shops in Velika which allow you to purchase potions, bandages, return scrolls, and equipment; or to sell your own items.

Thank you so much for this update! These maps are really great. So does everyone go to this city and then you start choosing your own quest path that will eventually lead to the same ending? OR can you do all of the quest lines one by one ?

Right now, everyone receives a quest to go to Velika once they've finished the quests on the Island of Dawn (Around level 11). Once you've done the quests around Velika, currently, you can choose to start with one of two questing hubs, though you will very likely complete both areas as it's worthwhile to :3

Alright thank you! Hopefully we get more information of how the quests go to getting us to that final battle? Maybe it will be like Aion where at certain levels you jsut randomly get quests/campaigns to do somerthing iomportant to the story.

That was a very interesting read, now I feel like I'll be less lost once I've reached that city. Thanks for all the map locations too! Good to know that there's three warehouses scattered across the city. I also like that everyone's going to head to the same place after the Island of Dawn before they scatter out to explore the land on their own. I don't even want to imagine what it would have been like to realize that playing with a friend who picked a different race would require to wander across half of the world.

Yeah, right now, TERA's not like that at all and I don't think they plan to change that :] The developers seem happy with the idea that everyone spends the first 11-12 levels together then they're able to slowly make choices and branch out all over the world.

Awesome update, thank you Amira! Bygeorge, I hope you know that you're friggin' amazing!

I love the haggle feature in the Auction House, instead of having to whisper the seller, as good as this is though, I'm sure there will be annoying people who say 'Will buy for half price'.

I can't wait to hear more about the other races' cities.

Velika is by far one of the most beautiful cities I've come across in a game. I can't wait to explore every nook and cranny. Really like there's a bargaining system with the broker too. And I'm so glad there just isn't ONE warehouse allocated in the city. Running back and forth to it, especially when you're quite a considerable distance away, would get rather irritating IMO.

Thanks for the write up guys. Great job.

I got a question (if anyone is allowed to answer it): How many pots can a person carry?

I have heard that you can only carry a max of 10, and some of the other special one's you can only carry 3. Is this correct.
There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

You're correct, currently a maximum of 10! I don't quite remember about the special ones, though.

Here are a bunch more pictures of Velika from a korean site.
The site is sometimes flagged as a reported attack site, though the main site is linked to from the official tera.hangame.com site.

Here are a couple of the images.

Then you obviously need to look for screenshots of Pora Elinu and the Lake of the Moon :)

I'd also love to take a better look at Allemantheia(the high elf capital city) because it looks stunning in the little footage we've seen.

beautiful pictures! thank you! I wonder if your going to be able to gop into alot of the buildings? It would be cool if most buildings were explorable, even if they had lame generic furniture in them!

Yes, that's a huge immersion breaker right there for me. If I want I would like to be able to enter most of the buildings. I love that feeling, so it doesn't feel like a side-scene like in the old westerns.

Also, I doesn't really like how the game looks from a far. It's much, much more prettier and beautiful up close.

Other than that, great article. I had to do some running before really locating everything in Velika. :)

Very cool! I like the idea of mixing technology with fantasy here, as seen with this city. I do hope that there is plenty of exploration within the city itself as well; open houses and buildings encourage role play options and expansion.
